Saturday quiz - =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Klas_T=F6rnquist?= - 07:23 12-11-05
|
|
I have put a recording from last year at:
http://web.telia.com/~u16117704/Music/
Guitars and drums were recorded live, bass and keyboard added afterwards.
Our eminent bassplayer Micke is playing lead on this one.
What guitar, amp and effects is he using?
I'm playing rhythm.
What guitar, amp and effects am I using?

Both guitars sound like electrics. They both are going threw Amps. For
effects I would guess electricity to make it all work.

Seriously...I would not know, but I am one of those around here who
never claimed to be able to tell. There are people around here who
nitpick every detail and swear they can tell, but have been pretty
silent on this post so far. And if they really can do it, then I will
be the first to admit that some people can do it. I know I can't.

I probably can't tell from others' recordings either.
However, it will be interesting to see if anyone gets close.

Well I have four 1" speakers and a bass box for sound so I'm sure its not to
accurate but hear goes The Amp is a 1963 Supro Can't tell if it's 1 twelve
or 2 tens. The guitar sounds like a old Kapa Continental with neck pickup
only. Effects now that tuff I would go with a Echoplex with one broken head
and turned way down.

Do you think that the MP3 is a perfect representation of the guitar? I
mean, depending on A/D converters, AND the converter in my PC, AND my PC
speakers, it's really hard to judge these things.
If I had to grab one of my guitars to make it sound like what I'm
hearing, I'd probably go for my 335 knockoff with humbuckers in center
position. If I had to pick one of my amps, I'd use my Super Reverb, and
expect better tone than the MP3. I don't think he's using a Super
Reverb, though. It may be a tube amp with little overdrive, or it may
be a touch of effects. I might start by going through my tube
compressor. But it's to hard to tell with your MP3 into my computer D/A
then my speakers.

Not a perfect representation, but fairly good. As it happens, I have no
CD left, so I cant compare. Also, I might be a bit biased, having
listened to it a lot of times at various mixing stages.
Forgot to mention that the guitar amps were miced.
I'll comment on your deductions below after some more answers have been
given.

Klas its a weak assed attempt to get people to listen to your music.
Its a nice tune with good playing but its boring as hell as an
instrumental. An instrumental should build more tension and then
resolve its self. I didnt listen to all of it but I listened to the
point where it should have done this. Either write some lyrics or
rearrange it. My opinion .Take it or leave it
