Fender Prosonic? - demysaid@yahoo.com - 01:07 13-11-05

I was planning on getting a Traynor YCV50 but then I remembered playing
a Fender Prosonic about 5 years ago. I remember liking it a lot but it
was out of my budget at the time. I see on Ebay there are some costing
$600. Does anyone have any info on this amp? I know it was an unusual
Fender make...

I remember some here saying good things about it. Subjective of course.

I had one that I sank a few bucks into to fix a couple common problems. The
channel switching would emit a loud pop when using the footswitch and the
reverb was a bit noisy. Both problems cost me about $75 to have a local tech
fix. Nice amp but could be a bit dark sounding. Very Boogie sounding.

The Fender Prosonic is a solid state amp with one tube in the preamp.
Therefore it is inferior to the all tube Traynor.

Great Freakin' amp..... My friend sold his for like $700, so they still
command some juice. It wasn't your Father's Fender - it's definitely a
'Rock' amp. I tried to buy it from him, but he used it as part of a trade.

the many parodies that are around of Guncho. But yer right, The
Prosonic is an asskicking amp. I played one a couple of times and
loved it. I dont care what was in back, solid state, tubes, who cared,

I thought I had had some conversations with Guncho and he was a pretty
fair guy.... I think that's who I talked to. I think Fender goes out of
their way to confuse. An example - Champs, all tube - Champ 25 - SS -
Champ 30 - some tubes.... Even I can't keep it straight :)
There are a few Fender amps that sound NOTHING like traditional Fender
amps - and this is coming from a Marshall guy. I borrowed a 'Super 60'
once - it was a head - and it sounded like a great distorted rock machine
- as did the Prosonic.

Not the Guncho I ever "talked" to, and not the one making an ass out
of himself in his usual way, on the fingerpicking thread. Not the
self-proclaimed "expert concerning the Les Paul Studio" and well,
endless examples of self-absorbed proclamations of idiocy from
basically a beginning to moderate level player. I'm not the only one
that thinks Guncho is a waste of time.

I suppose, but I dont care about any of that crap. If I find a guitar
I like, and I find an amp that it sounds good with in combination,
viola! end of problem. I dont go nitpicking, looking for reasons why
it should suck.

Prosonic weighed a good bit. 2 12s or maybe 2 10s. Cant remember. I'm
old. I just dont wanna cart around something that heavy anymore.

My mistake. I was thinking of the Fender Rocpro.
