Strat Switching: S1 vs Clapton -

Can anyone direct me to a (web based?) comparison between the sound
qualities/possibilities between the Eric Clampton Strat and the new
Strat with S-1 switching?

I know the Clampton model has an active mid range boost. But how does
this (the sound) compare with the S-1 switching strat?

Great googly moogly!

I prefer the Jed Clampett model with the Yee-Dawgie switching.

Lol :-)
Well, to anyone actually interested in this, I have one of the most killin'
S-1 type mods on one of my strats. The mod was designed by a fellow news
grouper, and resident electronics guru, Carlos Lorenzo.
I have many more wiring diagrams, mappings and audio demos posted on my
site.

You know, Eric Clampton... he played with John Major, The Yardburps and
Crumb.

Hey beeps. Harmony-Central is a great place to go for a wide range of user
reviews. You won't get direct comparisons, but you probably won't get those
anywhere.

Check it out and read about the models you are interested, and others as
well.

I just spent weeks going through all of this and I thought I had my choice
narrowed down to an HSS American Deluxe with the S1 Switch in it based on
user reviews. When I went into the local pro shop to try it out, I hated it.
I must have spent three hours that day playing over a dozen different models
of strat. I ended up walking out with a good old American Standard without
any fancy switches, fru-fru hardware or noiseless anything. It just sounds
like a sweet, sweet strat. Best money I ever spent (well, the shop still
'technically' owns it for now). Make sure you try 'em out before you make up
your mind.

I've never heard of S1 switching .. in 16 words or less, what does it do?

Belay that .. I went to HarryJ's web site and got the idea. I have to
agree, those are great tones. And great chops too! Wish I could play
like that..
