Delay unit for send/return? - Mo - 03:10 17-11-05

Now that I have an amp with an FX send/return (a new Laney VC15 110) I'm
interested in picking up a unit for that.
Mostly I'm interested in time-based effects-- delay for certain.
Can anyone recommend units to look out for? Doesn't have to have a
footswitch, but that would help.
But while I'm at it, maybe there's a multi-effect that will be better --
it'd be nice to have tremolo available too.
I don't really want anything too complicated, like most of the multi-effect
boxes I've seen. That might come later, for now, I'm trying to keep it
simple.

There are tons of delay pedals and rack-mount units. My first choice
would be an analog rack-mount delay. I had one made by Electra in the
80's that was great. The delay time wasn't extra long, but the sound
quality was very nice and warm. And it had a jack for a footswitch.
If you want long delays, go for a digital unit. The Line 6 Echo Park is
great.

You can run almost any guitar effect that you could put in front of the
amp in the fx loop.
Stuff like distortion is not recommended of course.
