Marshall TSL60 problem - Kumar - 22:16 17-11-05

Well it's not quite a problem.
I' recently purchased this half stack. It sounds great, but it's not quite
metal. What can i do to help get a mroe metal sound? I have a jeckyl and
hyde, but ti doesnt seem to cut through my buddies peavey XXX
Will an EQ pedal help?

Turn up the mid knob. That helps. Also, check out a Keeley modded Boss
Metal Zone, they are killer.

i say to each their own, but i *hate* EL34 for metal. lots of folks like
them, but (for me) they just don't have the balls and the cut that 6l6
have.
Now that i've said that - how are you setting your EQ/Gain/Volume? what
about your guitar - what type? what pickups?

gain 8, vol 6, presence on 10
i have a peavey exp explorer with 2 duncan distortion pickups

Sell it and get a Boogie, I guess....or Krank...that seems to be what many
modern metal guys use. Although, I know Mastodon uses stock Gibsons thru
stock Marshall Plexi's and 800's, and their sound is HUGE.
