Care For Oil-Finished Guitars -

With what should oil-finished guitars be cleaned & polished? Linseed

Preferably, the original type of oil. BTW, this is seldom linseed oil.

You might ask the manufacturer..

I have an oil-finished Ric - they recommend tung oil, but yes, check with
the manufacturer.

Our hand rubbed oil finishes @ Spector benefit from an occasional thin coat
of high quality wax buffed out with a lambswool pad. We use Butcher's
Bowling Alley wax @ the shop, but I've had great results using Blue Coral
car wax as well. The oil we use is a urethane/tung oil blend with a gel
consistancy. I would not reccomend rubbing more oil on an instrument unless
it's been throughly wiped down with mineral spirits & scotch brite to remove
all wax.
