This has probably been answered many times before..but
How many genuine Gibson spares outlets are there in the UK?
I can only find one:-
http://www.rosetti.co.uk/
located from the main USA site.
Some of these prices are absolutely mad, but then again so is the
current cost of the Les Paul. Really glad I bought mine many years
ago. (£700 I think).
I need a new scratch-plate, but £34 for a friggin piece of plastic!!!
Come on FFS!!
Saw the Epi v Gibson thread still can't work out why a decent guitar
should cost so much though. I'd never go back from a Gibson LP, but
the price is plain stupid.
The biggest piece of crap I ever bought was something called a HONDO
SG, trying to pass itself off as a guitar, yet the neck used to move
and knock the whole thing out of tune. Had loads of fun smashing the
fecking thing up in the garden when I bought a Fender Strat. Then
didn't like the Strat and traded in for the Gibson LP. Best guitar I
ever bought, now 16 years old and still in fantastic condition, apart
from the scratchplate crack.

Hi. I bought a genuine Gibson replacement pick-guard, for a LP Custom.=20
It didn't fit. Not even close. The cut-out for the neck pick-up was=20
close to an eighth of an inch short of fitting. Which took more than=20
just filing away at it. It had to be cut to fit. Genuine Gibson parts my =
a##. And pricey, even in the USA. Cheers, Rick Christmas songs=20
arranged for solo guitar, TAB charts free to the group at;=20

So basically Gibson have change their measurements? That's nice.
The whole point is to get official replacements so it helps retain the
value of the guitar. Great aint it!
Thanks for your post!

You're welcome. *And*, as I'm told by the sales-people at Sam Ash, a USA
chain of about 50 music stores, Gibsons "genuine" parts are made not by
Gibson, but are 'farmed out' to a separate company. Looks like they
ought to go back to the original Gibson templates. Was that price 34
Euros or 34 British pounds? TIA, Rick Christmas songs arranged for solo

This doesn't answer your question but, one of my first guitars was a Hondo
LP copy. I replaced the tuners and pickups and also had the tech do some
fret work on it. After that it wasn't a bad guitar at all. But, What I spent
versus what it was worth wasn't one of my best investments. ;-)
