I've always used light strings on LP's & heavy's on strats... How do
LP's sound with mediums or heavy's?

Wow, I do the opposite. Compensates a little for the more difficult bending
on the 25 1/2" scale. I usually use 10's on 24 3/4", and 9 1/2's on 25 1/2"
(sometimes 10's)

It depends on what medium or heavy means to you. If you do a lot of
wholetone or wider bendings then you might want to go with 10s ... otherwise
11s are fine IMO ... I cannot see a reason for using anything lighter than
10s on a Gibson since the shorter scale allows to bend them effortlessly,
even if your action is not super low. I'd say use the fattest strings you
can handle without experiencing fatigue during a gig. There's no way getting
around experimenting tho ...

Try to go with the heaviest gauge that you can comfortably play. You
may even try going a bit heavier and work into them. If they end up too
much for you, you can always back off to the next lightest gauge. The
difference in tone between a light gauge and a heavy gauge is
astronomical. I just went from medium heavy to heavy on my strat and it
sounds like a completely different guitar . I had to replace the nut
because the factory one couldn't handle it.
