Weird time signature - Dr. Zontar - 11:32 22-11-05

Hello all,

My band recently decided to do a cover of "Possum Kingdom" by the
Toadies. (Our lead singer loves the song, and does a great job with
it.)

The basic guitar parts are easy, but the time signature for the verses
is confusing. It repeats a simple E - Asus4 - A chord progression. But
every OTHER time through, it skips a beat. It took the drummer and I a
long time to get it right.

What's the time signature? 7/8? 15/16?

I haven't heard of a 15/16 time signature but without listening to the
song, I would guess that it is probably 7/8. It might help to actually
write it out.

Just a guess since I don't know the song, but a fair amount of stuff I
play (a lot of jazz) inserts a 3/4 measure in the middle or end of 8
bars of 4/4.

We covered Rush's Limelight recently and it changes time sigs a number
of times throughout. It's not uncommon with prog rock.
