GR-700 problem: Is it the cable? - Double-E - 11:18 23-11-05

I've had a Roland GR-700 for years but it has recently developed a
problem. The A string periodically won't trigger the synth. It kind
of just puts out a static "attempt" at the synth sound. At first I
thought it was temperature related and tried using freez spray on the
components, to no avail. But now it seems it can happen even right
after turning the unit on. I've heard that the interface cable to the
controller is the weak link in the system. Does anyone know if this is
a common symptom of cable trouble?
thanx

Those cables are prone to developing problems. That'd be the first place
I'd check. New ones aren't too expensive. If you rule out the cable,
contact Roland. I just had to send in my GR-1 to get a broken trace
repaired, and they turned it around quickly and for a little $$ as you can
expect.
