Eric Clapton, changing looks - RK - 14:46 25-11-05

If I look at pictures of eric from the sixties and today I think he looks a
lot different and is hard to recognize. Not that he looks older only
different! Even, when comparing pictures from the sixties he looks a lot
different from picture to picture. Is it just me? Or ......?

He's always done that! CIP: His 1972 compilation, "The History of
Clapton" I bought this album when it was first released in`72 and the
inside jacke provides a written and pictorial biography of his career
transition to that point which and graphincally illustrates his pension
for change and extreme makeovers. If you're a Claption Fan a copy of
this album (The original in vinyl) is a must!

EC went thru a multitude of hairstyles in the 60's, and I think I have
every one of them in my photo collection! :)
It's basically just down to the hair, but he used to wear some really wacky
gear too!
One thing that never changed though....'that great guitar style of his!

Re: Eric Clapton, changing looks - GuitarTech - 18:42 25-11-05

Eric has 'always' had what you would call a 'weak' chin. Most of the
changes you see in his photo anthologies is the beard line. Sometimes
he covers up the chin thing, sometimes (maybe when he's feeling better
about himself) he just says f**k it!, and shows it off! He has that
look that's better with the 2-day growth if you ask me.

Still - "Slowhand" will always be a God to me - chin or no. Even
better that his whole style is based upon the Blues!

I witnessed an interview with B.B.King once. B.B. was asked who was
the greatest blues player (ever) in B.B.'s opinion. B.B. responded by
saying that the greatedst blues player in history was 'still alive',
and his name was Eric Clapton! I almost fell off the chair.

Yeah, I'm an old fart.

Yeah, I would have fallen out of my chair too. Jimi Hendrix was man that
the man (Clapton) worshiped, and rightfully so.

They used to say his chameleon-like appearance was a manifestation of
his search for the identity of his father.
Honest, they did.
