[OT] Could someone please identify this guitar track ? - Phaeton - 00:38 02-12-05

I know this might be offtopic here in these groups, but I have
no luck in other newsgroups :-( I have this short(ish), but
very nice instrumental song, but I don't know its title or
performer. I am kind of sure that it was recorded before 1986,
and to me sounds like Gary Moore ( or maybe Yngwie Malmsteen. )
If anyone have some idea, I would be thankful. ( A few people
suggested that it is kind of implementation of Mussorgsky's
"Bydlo" or "Bydtlo", but I am not sure. ) Certainly it has
some classical element or influence, IMHO.

It could be a band as well, of course. Here is the link,
it might be a bit slow, 'cause it is a public server, sorry.

http://www.rootshell.be/~phaeton/Guitar-instrumental.mp3

Thanks again for listening and for any help...
Cheers, Csaba

Slow? I think the thing must have been built in the 16th century! Took
me 25 minutes to download, and I'm on a T1 connection in work.

I'm sorry I can't help you with this one, but I see what you mean. It
starts off very Yngwie-ish - ie neo-classical, but then the bit in the
middle sounds very Gary Moore-ish.

I'll be interested to find out who it actually is...

Sorry, it is a public server, probably not set up for this kind
of transfer :-)

It seems it is not Gary Moore either, as I emailed a fan site
who should know a lot about Gary, and he didn't recognise it.
As I said, it could be a band too...

Yeah, a few people expressed interest in other newsgroups too.
I will try to find out and post the result. It will take time
though...

Sure. A bit slow though, it is a public server. Here it is :

http://www.rootshell.be/~phaeton/Guitar-instrumental.mp3

So far no one has identified it precisely. I was thinking
Gary Moore, but a fan site wasn't keen on that idea. Still,
it could be Malmsteen, or it is a band, quite possible.
What is certain is that it is from the 80s, even before '86 or
'87. Thabks for looking at at it...

Re: Could someone please identify this guitar track ? - Horwad - 09:49 02-12-05

I have heard a few different versions of this, the one I remember best
is from Santana. This definitely sounds like its 80's ish. I don't
think its Yngwie, I'm an Yngwie fan and it just doesnt sound like him.
Don't think is Gary Moore either. Probably one of the many 80's (where
are they now) wanna be shredders. Sorry I couldn't be more help........
