Yeah, we're OK, but I'm thinking seriously of relocating.
We refugeed to Texas and it was pretty cool.
The low sales tax and no state income tax is pretty persuasive, too.

My favorite local shop doesn't have anything like that big a difference in
price with GC, and in many cases they'll match GC prices unless it's a
loss-leader that GC bought a truckload of. And the local place will do
things that GC won't, they've *loaned* me gear to try out, and accepted
returns outside the usual policy, and hooked me up in a dozen ways that GC
wouldn't dream of. Sure, I'm not going to spend hundreds extra on the same
item, I ain't rich, but nine times out of ten I'd much rather support a
local indy shop than a chain like GC.

This story is as old as time. Each person needs to decide how important it
is to them and make their purchase based on that.

I prefer to support small-businesses, mainly because I tend to get better
service, but sometimes you can't beat the big guys either.
